Since 2019, Norway has been repeatedly sentenced by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg for violating Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which protects the right to respect for private and family life, home, and correspondence. Despite this, Norway has failed to comply with these rulings.

Attorney Erik Bryn Tvedt, alongside thousands of concerned citizens, is currently defending Professor Dr. Lillian Gran, whose teenage children were taken by the notorious Norwegian child welfare system («Barnevernet») in 2023.

Now, three years later, Dr. Gran has been held in custody for the past four months, while even the children’s grandparents are denied contact. On April 21, a Norwegian court plans to move her forcibly to a closed psychiatric ward for weeks under the guise of “observation.”
