Standing for Families: A Conversation with Titus Corlăţean

This Friday on Insight with Pastor Torp, we welcome Senator Titus Corlăţean of Romania, a leading voice in the fight for family rights and justice across Europe.

Senator Corlăţean led a delegation of Romanian senators and parliamentarians to Norway in January 2016 to investigate the Norwegian child welfare services’ controversial removal of the five Romanian-Norwegian children of Marius and Ruth Bodnariu.

Today, he is spearheading a European and global campaign calling for the return of two Romanian Samson teenagers to their family in Sweden. The campaign has mobilized thousands of concerned citizens across several nations, with demonstrations and initiatives in Washington DC, London, Copenhagen and Stockholm.

Senator Corlăţean has also raised the issue at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg and initiated a unanimous resolution in the Romanian Senate calling for the return of the two teenagers to their parents.

A former Minister of Justice and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Senator Corlăţean currently chairs the Foreign Policy Committee of the Romanian Senate. He is also a former law professor and has held several important positions connected to the European Court of Human Rights.
