
Monique Rijkers – Fighting in Indonesia for Israel

The award-winning journalist in Indonesia, Monique Rijkers-Rondonuwu (52), established «Hadassah – Fight against Antisemitism» in 2016, an independent foundation to educate the Indonesian public about Israel, Judaism, and the history of the Holocaust. The reference verse from the Bible is 1 Samuel 17:46b: «So that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel».
In today´s episode of Insight, she discusses with Pastor Torp the rampant antisemitism in the largest Muslim nation of the world, but also the positive developments. Not least is the speech at the UN General Assembly in September 2025 by Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, who affirmed Israel’s right to exist and to defend itself.
Monique worked as a journalist from 2002 to 2017, then as an opinion writer for the German news agency DW.com until 2022. and received the Diversity Award for TV journalism in 2014, and has received nine journalism awards, including the Mochtar Lubis Award and the Adiwarta Award.
She resides with her husband Gerry Rijkers, a banker, and their two kids just outside the capital Jakarta.
Monique received faith in Jesus Christ in 2012.
